Looking to make a transition into the tech industry?

Are you considering an alternative career path? Like the idea of getting hands on in the world of tech? Lighthouse Labs is launching our Coding Crash Course this April!

If you haven’t been able to make time to teach yourself to code, this series of workshops is an in-person, guided alternative.

A career change is a big decision, and we want to make sure that you set off on your journey with the confidence and assurance that software development is your calling!

The second workshop in this series is our Intro to JavaScript workshop. Being the native language of web browsers, every single company with a web presence uses JavaScript, making it the most commonly used programming language in the world! We will be covering the basics of JavaScript for people with little to no coding experience, where you’ll get the chance to explore the fundamentals of web development by building a web-based chatroom.

You’ll be using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to build your app step by step with the help of our instructors, mentors and your workshop peers. The goal of the workshop is to give you an overview of what goes into building a web application, and hopefully spark a passion to learn more!

We’ll be teaching:

  • JavaScript, including jQuery and Node.js
  • HTML and CSS
  • Brackets (brackets.io)

If you find yourself ahead of the class, we have stretch goals that will help you take your app to the next level with neat features and customization. No coding experience is necessary!

Any laptop computer can be used. You will need a modern Web browser such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, and a GitHub account. You will also need to download Brackets in advance.

Remember to register for the other workshops in the Coding Crash Course, below! Space is limited.
