Vancouver, BC – March 16, 2017
This March, Wavefront and Accelerate Okanagan hosted the first Canadian Accelerator Summit in Vancouver, BC, bringing together over 100 people from nearly 60 incubators accelerators from across the country and around the world to network and share best practices.
The objective was to unite the entire community of accelerators in Canada to learn what strategies work best, what needs to be improved and how the community can better work together to support Canadian entrepreneurs. The event was designed to provide actionable insights, learnings and connections among participants, engaging individuals who work in a range of roles in the accelerator community.
Attendees included representatives from PEI to BC and the Yukon. A key learning from the event was that while many of these organizations have slightly different ways of operating, similar challenges are shared across the board. The agenda covered diverse subjects such as serving growth companies, engaging with alumni, connecting clients with customers and changing business models for accelerators. Attendees heard from folks creating new approaches towards entrepreneurial support in Canada, the US, the UK and even India!
The organizing team looks forward to seeing everyone again next year for round two of the Canadian Accelerator Summit.
