As the year comes to an end, we want to highlight the best moments of 2016 at Wavefront!
We were happy to be a part of the inaugural BCTECH Summit hosted by our partner, BC Innovation Council (BCIC), and the Government of British Columbia. It was great to see the innovative technology produced by Canadian companies and be involved in the growing tech sector in Vancouver. Check out early bird pricing for the 2017 event in March. Use the promo code ‘Wavefront17’ for $100 off!
This was the second year we hosted our Internet of Things Roadshow in partnership with Sierra Wireless and Arrow Electronics. The successful event took place in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal in May and was received with positive feedback. Attendees learned more about the latest and greatest IoT technology from Sierra Wireless, Arrow Electronics, Intel, Infineon, Qualcomm, IBM, and Deloitte.
Relaunch of the Wavefront Website
It was an exciting year for us because we refreshed and relaunched our website! Now you can easily navigate information and resources that pertain to your needs whether you are a startup, an enterprise or a government official. Visit our website today at Wavefront.ca.
Relaunch of the Wireless Zone
October marked the relaunch of our Wireless Zones, which offers device rentals to test applications and hardware. The device libraries currently carry over 1000 devices including smartphones, tablets, sensors and wearables. Our main library is located at the Wavefront office in Vancouver, and we also have locations across Canada thanks to partnerships with CEIM (Montreal), Communitech (Waterloo), Centennial College (Toronto), Invest Ottawa (Ottawa), and Volta Labs (Halifax). Venture Acceleration Program and National Accelerator Program
It was another successful year for the Venture Acceleration Program (VAP) and National Accelerator Program, both which help early-stage entrepreneurs launch and grow their companies faster and smarter. We had two cohorts including nine companies for VAP and accepted four companies in Toronto and eight companies in Halifax to our National Program. We are looking forward to accepting more companies in the coming New Year, so stay tuned!
