Anritsu Supplies Radio Communication Analyzer to Wavefront to Support Need for Wireless Test Services in British Columbia
wavefront, the commercialization centre supporting the growth of British Columbia’s wireless and new media developer community, today announced the receipt of $130,000 worth of testing equipment from Anritsu Company. The equipment will boost the centre’s capacity to support the wireless market’s need for testing services which is forecasted to increase by 275% over the next two years for British Columbia’s early stage companies¹.
wavefront took delivery of the MT8820 Radio Communication Analyzer, a multi-system service test platform that covers W-CDMA, GSM/GPRS/EGPRS, cdma2000® 1x/1xEV-DO, and AMPS in a single instrument. This platform supports detailed failure diagnosis and evaluation of all the main mobile phone transmission/reception test items. With this unique test solution, Wavefront will be able to perform accurate RF parametric testing.
“Anritsu is honored to be a part of the Wavefront initiative,” said Akram Ashamalla, Western Canada Sales Manager of Anritsu. “The MT8820 platform is the entry point in a long line of Anritsu mobile device test products, which also includes the MD8470A Application Tester that offers the optimum solution for mobile UE application development. It supports the elements required for various application developments, such as voice calling, packet communications including browser/contents download, video calling, and end-to-end UE communications (with a single MD8470A) which can enable Wavefront users to port new products and services across a range of different access technologies.”
“Anritsu’s participation will go a long way in supporting Wavefront’s efforts in developing British Columbia’s wireless innovation development sector,” said James Maynard, President of Wavefront.
The MT8820 platform will upgrade the laboratory to reinforce its testing and accreditation service capabilities for mobile device developers, such as integration and safe-for-network device testing. By providing access to an independent local testing facility, Wavefront is helping small and medium-sized wireless technology companies avoid the high capital cost of testing infrastructure. Wavefront also offers a suite of development and mobile industry advisory services that will enhance the ability of these companies to grow and prosper in both national and international markets.
